Bio

Born and raised in Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains– Nigel Wright is the son of fine art painters. He released his first album Millfoil (2010) at the age of sixteen. Shortly after, a European label discovered his music. He immediately embarked on a tour of Germany, Switzerland, and Italy– performing in festivals such as Reeperbahn, Haldern Pop, and One Of A Million. The European tour and his elected departure from his label shaped his second album, Burnt Mountain. Since returning to the states, Nigel released three more albums under his own name– Kyht (2021), I’m Actually Dancing (2023), and Khristalis (2023), and nine albums under his other project, Valasketh

With a catalogue that stretches over 16 years, Nigel’s songs cover a multitude of personal fascinations– from reading Tolstoy as a chronically daydreaming teen (“Anna”), to the hidden poetry of everyday routines– like brushing teeth or scrubbing feet (“Weird Rocks”). And while his recordings feature the classic textures of folk instrumentation accompanying his baritone voice, the atmosphere of Nigel’s albums evoke cinema more than Americana with his use of horns, strings, and choral arrangements.

In addition to self-producing all of his music, Nigel creates his own artwork and videos.
